Did you know? An inn of this name was established here by 1732 (Burghley Estate Office, Court Books, 1762), and it was historically the venue for meetings of the Great Court Baron of the Manor of King’s Cliffe – for which the Earls of Exeter were Lords of the Manor.
The Cross Keys Inn was also the first Post Office in the village, when Robert Holmes was both publican and post-master in the mid-1800s. The Royal Mail was delivered here from Wansford.
